Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is Pakistan’s largest program to help poor and needy people. It was started to follow the dream of Benazir Bhutto, who wanted to make life better for families who have no or very little money. In 2025, the program has become even stronger under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. They are working together to make sure more and more poor families get help and live a better life. This program is very important because it supports millions of families across Pakistan. It gives them money to buy food, send their children to school, and take care of their health. The government wants to reduce poverty and make women stronger by giving them financial help directly.

There are many smaller programs under BISP. Each program helps people in a different way:

  • The Benazir Kafalat Program gives money every three months to poor women. This helps them buy food, clothes, and other things for their homes. Women get this money directly in their hands, so they feel strong and independent.
  • Benazir Taleemi Wazaif gives cash scholarships to parents who send their children to school. This ensures that children do not leave school due to financial difficulties. Both boys and girls from primary to higher secondary schools can get this help.
  • Benazir Nashonuma Program provides healthy food and medical checkups to pregnant women and small babies. This is to make sure mothers stay healthy and babies grow strong.
  • Benazir Hunarmand Youth Skill Program gives free training to young people so they can learn skills and get good jobs in the future.
  • Support for Disabled Persons helps people with disabilities. They receive special care, equipment, and financial support to live better lives.
  • Senior Citizens Assistance provides monthly cash assistance to older adults aged 60 years or older. This helps them buy medicine and other basic needs.
  • Entrepreneurship and Business Grants help poor people start small businesses. This allows them to earn their own money and become independent.

In 2025, it will be very easy to check if you can get help from BISP. You can send your CNIC number to 8171 by SMS or visit the official BISP website. The government uses a biometric system (fingerprints) to ensure that the right person receives the money. You can also check your PMT (Proxy Means Test) score to know if you are eligible for BISP. This score helps decide which families need help the most. If your PMT score is low, you can apply for the program easily. The Benazir Income Support Programme is changing lives across Pakistan. It helps poor families fight poverty, sends more children to school, and gives women confidence by empowering them financially.
